This third movement echoes Spanish flamenco guitar and the Paso Doble. It is quick, fun, and fiery – thus the title el Fogoso”, the fiery one!
It is composed with quartal harmony in symmetrical constructions, and again has memorable melodies and syncopated rhythms. It includes some simple hand percussion, though exactly how those parts will be distributed among the guitar players will need to be worked out in first workshop.
The difficulty level for any one part is tough, but each one utilizes many parallel motions in 4ths, 2nds, and 7ths.
This final movement of the Sonata for Guitar Ensemble is completed and formatted for printing. Audio files are also prepared. Again the file attached is a quick-and-dirty synth mockup using the lovely Pettinhouse Guitars.
